INSIDE EDITION: EXCLUSIVE: TEXAS’ MOST INFAMOUS SQUATTER UNDER FIRE – TESTIFIES AT GRAND JURY
To be broadcast on Friday, Feb. 24 KTXA at 7:30PM and on KTVT at 1:12AM
New York, NY – Feb 24th – INSIDE EDITION has learned that Texas’ most infamous squatter, Ken Robinson, was subpoenaed to testify before a Grand Jury on how other squatters took over abandoned homes. Robinson made headlines around the world last year after he took over a McMansion in Texas for just $16.00. But now Robinson is coming under fire after dozens of other copycat squatters have been arrested for burglary and theft after allegedly breaking into homes in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area.
According to police, at least eight of the squatters have ties to Robinson. Robinson claims he became the legal owner of a $340,000 home in a Dallas suburb after he filed an affidavit for “adverse possession” when the previous owner walked away and the home entered foreclosure.
In a report on adverse possession to air nationally on Friday, February 24th, Robinson speaks exclusively to INSIDE EDITION’s Paul Boyd about his recent eviction and the controversy surrounding him.
BOYD: “Are you aware that eight people that you have been associated with were arrested for burglary in connection that you guided them through it?”
ROBINSON: “Yes. I’m aware of it.”
BOYD: ““How do you explain it?”
ROBINSON: “I don’t.”
BOYD: “Do you have any relationship with these people?”
ROBINSON: “No.”
BOYD: “You don’t believe that you’ve twisted the law?”
ROBINSON: “I believe the media is twisting the story.”
During the February 14th interview with INSIDE EDITION, Robinson was served a subpoena to testify before the Grand Jury about how other squatters were taking over abandoned homes. A source told INSIDE EDITION Robinson testified before the Grand Jury two days later on February 16th.
Robinson maintains he’s done nothing wrong, has not been charged with any crime and is currently appealing the eviction.
