PASTOR TED HAGGARD DEFENDS BISHOP EDDIE LONG: SAYS LONG IS "HEARTBROKEN" AND "CONFUSED"

New York, NY - September 22, 2010 - Inside Edition speaks with Pastor Ted Haggard about Bishop Eddie Long, the powerful Atlanta religious leader who is now being accused of coercing two young men to engage in sexual acts.

Pastor Haggard, who admitted to having a three-year sexual relationship with a male prostitute, tells INSIDE EDITION he can empathize with Bishop Long about the allegations made against him.

Ted Haggard: "I think he's heartbroken, I think he's confused...I'll tell you how I felt, I felt like I'd ruined my life."

Inside Edition also spoke with Gayle Haggard, Ted's wife who chose to stand by her husband after reports of his homosexual relationship surfaced.

Gayle Haggard: "Eddie Long has been a great man...He has done wonderful things.  I hope they hold onto that knowledge as they try to understand what these allegations are about, if they are indeed true."

A spokesman for Long categorically denies the allegations.
