New York, NY – Sept 28, 2023 – Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs’ player Travis Kelce are the latest celebrity couple making waves online. In an interview airing Thursday, INSIDE EDITION speaks with an ex-girlfriend of Kelce, Maya Benberry, who is speaking out in her first televised interview about how she feels she was betrayed by the football star, and what it’s really like to date him.

 

Benberry dated Kelce in 2016. Their romance started when she was a contestant on the E! reality show called “Catching Kelce.” Benberry beat out 50 other women who were vying for Travis’ heart. They dated for eight months before it came to an end.

 

“Certain qualities don’t change in men,” Benberry tells INSIDE EDITION. “I feel like Travis is a narcissist. Most narcissists don’t change.”

 

Benberry says she thought she was going to marry him.

 

“He met my parents, I had a key to his penthouse,” says Benberry. “To me that means that you're pretty serious.”

 

Benberry claims Kelce cheated on her. “Like the saying goes, once a cheater, always a cheater,” Benberry tells INSIDE EDITION.

 

The 31-year-old life coach says she learned about his alleged indiscretions on social media.

Now, Benberry is facing a narrative that she’s the bitter ex-girlfriend who's after her 15-minutes of fame.

 

“I'm offended because five years ago when I said the allegations about cheating, and when I talked about us being together for eight months, his camp, his team, and even himself, he didn't say anything about it,” Benberry tells INSIDE EDITION. “Now five years later, you’re laughing, and I feel like you’re mocking me.”

 

She also says she’s not sure if Kelce and Swift’s romance is real.

 

“The only reason I question the genuineness of the relationship is because he’s talking to the media a lot,” says Benberry.

 

Benberry also says she’s been getting death threats from Taylor Swift’s fans, known as “Swifties,” who think she’s trying to destroy their budding romance. 

 

“Swifties are aggressive, very negative, very hypocritical,” Benberry tells INSIDE EDITION. "It's really crazy to me that someone that I think is positive and really nice has such a negative and angry fan base.”

 

But how does Benberry feel about Swift and Kelce’s relationship? “I wanted the public to know I’m not jealous or bitter about Taylor. She’s beautiful, she’s successful, we’re in two different lanes. My issue is more with Travis. Now, [he’s] trying to turn me into a bitter person or a liar, or delusional. And I’m the furthest thing from that,” says Benberry.

 

INSIDE EDITION reached out to Travis Kelce for comment on the cheating allegation but did not hear back.
