New York, NY — September 7, 2016 – INSIDE EDITION speaks exclusively with Carol Schuller, who currently owns the house where JonBenet Ramsey’s body was found in 1996. Schuller, who is the daughter of late televangelist Robert Schuller, and her husband Tim have never spoken out about the residence, until now.   

The couple bought the home in 2004 for a bargain price of $1 million. Carol, a mother of five, tells INSIDE EDITION she was hesitant about living in the house where JonBenet was killed. “I got out of the car and thought, ‘Are we really doing this? Really? We are gonna do this?’ I was reticent and the minute we walked through the door my breath was taken away,” she says.

But Carol goes on to reveal she was determined to breathe new life into the house. “This has become a dark monument, this thing that was just sitting there, a constant reminder of something horrible that had happened. And I’m just a believer in undoing stuff like that.”

Carol and her husband remodeled the home after they moved in. They show INSIDE EDITION how they transformed the basement – the labyrinth of dark rooms where JonBenet was murdered – into a warm, open family room. “We really wanted to create a space where our kids could have a hangout spot,” Carol says.

Carol goes on to say that she feels that the dark cloud that haunted the home for so many years has been lifted. “It’s full of joy again, it’s full of life again. We would love to be here the rest of our lives,” she says.
