JUDGE JUDY WEIGHS IN ON ALEC BALDWIN'S MESSAGE TO HIS DAUGHTER
"Believe me, I am not excusing the rant on that tape, but there's a lot of blame to go around and I think it all shouldn't be heaped on this guy."
New York, NY - April 23, 2007 - Judge Judy Sheindlin tells Inside Edition Baldwin's message to his daughter was disturbing but blames the justice system for failing both him and Basinger.
"What went on there is a judiciary that didn't get the job done four and a half years ago and allowed these people to bask in hate and manipulate this child for five years," Sheindlin says.
Inside Edition caught up with the former family court Judge at the Matrix Awards in New York where she was equally critical of both parents.
"I think he's [Baldwin] a little bit nutty, but I also think that she's [Basinger] a little bit nutty, and the one unfortunately that's suffering is that little girl"
Sheindlin, a mother of five, does not excuse the message left by Baldwin but says she can relate to his frustration.
"The voicemail is the culmination of lots of frustration...All of us have said things to our children that we really aren't crazy about and we really wouldn't want to get out in the media," she continues, "Believe me, I am not excusing the rant on that tape, but there's a lot of blame to go around and I think it all shouldn't be heaped on this guy."
Sheindlin also criticizes the tape being released to the public saying, "Somebody leaked it and that was not in the child's best interests."
