New York, NY — February 10, 2022 – An INSIDE EDITION investigation found some hotels around Los Angeles, in Inglewood, CA, are charging fans sky-high rates for this weekend’s Super Bowl at SoFi Stadium; some rooms going for over nine times their regular rate. But what INSIDE EDITION discovered inside some of those rooms may gross you out.

At a Motel 6 in Inglewood, the usual room rate is $85 per night, but for Super Bowl weekend they are advertising for more than $500 a night.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Motel 6 said: “[their] number one priority is providing a safe, clean and comfortable environment for all our guests. We are working with property management to ensure that this hotel meets our high standards so we can deliver a great experience for all of our guests.”

Among some of the stomach-turning items
INSIDE EDITION’s Lisa Guerrero found when she got to her room was a box of condoms underneath the bed. She also found the seat cushions covered in sticky stains.

Down the street at Lyfe Inn & Suites, rooms that typically go for $90 were being advertised for a whopping $1,499. INSIDE EDITION found the shower curtain covered in ominous red stains, and food all over the floor. Behind the bed, INSIDE EDITION found what looked like three cockroach traps.

So I pushed back the mattress in my room and there are not one, not two, but three roach baits,” said Guerrero

A manager for the Lyfe Inn & Suites told INSIDE EDITION he would replace the shower curtain, and acknowledges they’ve had a problem with cockroaches in the past. As for the price, a district manager later told INSIDE EDITION it was a typo and the rooms are renting for $449 a night, not $1,499. He also said that during the Covid pandemic they have been restricted in cleaning rooms and said that housekeeping is not allowed to go into rooms everyday unless requested by a guest or the room is unoccupied between guests, adding that sometimes housekeepers aren’t that thorough.

At the Holly Crest Hotel, INSIDE EDITION rented a room for $85, but Super Bowl weekend the same room is renting for $780 – 9 times their normal rate. Here, INSIDE EDITION found nasty yellow stains all over the mattress covers, and even a sticker covering the smoke detector.

INSIDE EDITION spoke with the manager and showed him the sticker. “It says uncured ham, that’s a ham sticker. That’s dangerous,” said Guerrero

The manager removed the sticker and says they plan to replace the mattress as well.
