New York, NY — September 13th, 2019 – In an exclusive airing on Thursday, INSIDE EDITION’s Diane McInerney speaks with Anna Chambers, a young woman who accused two New York City police officers of raping her while in their custody.

Chambers, who was 18 at the time of the incident, shows INSIDE EDITION how she was put in handcuffs after being detained for drug possession by two undercover detectives, Eddie Martins and Richard Hall, in Brooklyn.

As they drove towards the precinct, Chambers says one of the detectives climbed into the back seat and forced her to perform a sex act.

I was screaming, ‘No, please stop,’ while the other officer was looking in the mirror,” she says.

Chambers filed a police report and the detectives were arrested. Both detectives admitted they had sex with Chambers, though they claimed it was consensual and denied handcuffing her.

Their lawyers started digging into Chambers’ social media accounts and argued that provocative selfies that she posted were “unprecedented” for a victim of a “vicious rape.”

Chambers tells INSIDE EDITION she felt the detectives’ lawyers were trying to make her feel like she was asking for rape based on what she was wearing. “They were trying to slut shame me,” she says.

Questions about Chambers’ credibility were also raised because she couldn’t remember whether she wore sweatpants or a skirt that night. It turns out, it was sweatpants.

But Chambers’ attorney Michael David tells INSIDE EDITION, “Those inconsistencies were irrelevant to what took place in that van. The evidence is there to this day. The DNA, the marks on her wrists, and there’s video of her getting thrown out of the van.”

The rape and kidnapping charges against the officers were dropped. In August, they pleaded guilty to bribery and official misconduct and were sentenced to five years’ probation.

Chambers tells INSIDE EDITION she’s outraged that the officers avoided jail time by taking a plea deal. “This is not justice for me. It’s really not,” she says.
