New York, NY — February 21, 2017 – In honor of the 40^th anniversary of the beloved musical, “Annie,” INSIDE EDITION brings together dozens of actresses who have played the role of the red-headed orphan over the years.

For the first time ever, four generations of Annies are gathered on one stage – including Sarah Jessica Parker, who played Annie in one of her first acting jobs, and Andrea McArdle, the original Annie from the 1977 Broadway production.

The women, who all share this special bond, discuss anecdotes about how the experience has impacted their lives. McArdle recalls how playing Annie as a young girl shaped her, “When you’re so impressionable, in those formative years, it’s such an amazing thing,” she tells INSIDE EDITION. 

Parker, who took on the title role when she was 14 years old, tells INSIDE EDITION that when she first saw the musical on Broadway, she never imagined she would be a part of the show just a couple years later. “I went to see the show as an audience…and watched Andrea [McArdle] and assumed I would never be in “Annie.” I would certainly never play Annie, and I wouldn’t be part of this sort of magical phenomenon that washed over Broadway,” she says. 

INSIDE EDITION also brings along Annie’s dog, Sandy, and the ladies sing some of the musical’s iconic songs, including, “It’s A Hard Knock Life” and “Tomorrow.”
