New York, NY — September 8, 2016 – In an exclusive interview airing on Thursday, INSIDE EDITION speaks with Gina Cramsey, the ex-wife of John Cramsey, the gun range owner who was arrested in June outside the Holland Tunnel. His brightly painted truck was pulled over by police and the vehicle was carrying automatic weapons, bullet-proof vests, and thousands of rounds of ammunition.
Initial reports questioned if Cramsey was a terrorist, but Cramsey claimed he was just a grieving father who lost his daughter to a drug overdose in January. He said he was on an anti-drug mission to rescue a young woman from a drug den in New York.
But Cramsey’s ex-wife accuses him of using their daughter’s death to attract attention for himself, and claims that he was absent from their daughter’s life. She tells INSIDE EDITION, “He’s a fake, he’s a phony, he’s a narcissist. I’m sorry, but I’m her mother and I raised her alone.”
“I mean the coroner was still in my home and he was on Facebook posting that his daughter was dead,” she continues.
Gina also tells INSIDE EDITION that she resents Cramsey for telling people that their daughter was a drug addict. She believes her daughter was tricked into taking a lethal dose of the powerful painkiller Fentenyl. “My daughter was not a drug addict,” she says. “I’m very angry at him for tarnishing my daughter’s name.”
INSIDE EDITION also spoke with Cramsey from jail before he was released on bail on Thursday. He maintains his innocence and says, “There’s no evidence that I was going to do anybody any harm.” He also says that he didn’t realize he was carrying the ammunition in his truck, and claims the incident was due to “an oversight of an exhausted man.”
He also still insists that his anti-drug mission is genuine and says the grief over his daughter’s death “consumed” him. He tells INSIDE EDITION that after the tragedy, “I lived everyday trying to help save people.”
