FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, ARIEL WINTER’S MOTHER SPEAKS EXCLUSIVELY TO INSIDE EDITION
September 12, 2013 (New York, NY) Crystal Workman, the mother of “Modern Family” star Ariel Winter, speaks out for the first time exclusively with Inside Edition about losing custody of Winter in August. A judge named Winter’s older sister temporary guardian of the 15-year-old, after Winter accused her mother in court papers of “slapping,” “pushing,” and “hurting” her.
Moret: “Have you ever physically abused your daughter?”
Workman: “Never.”
Moret: “Have you ever emotionally abused your daughter?”
Workman: “Never. If emotional abuse is, ‘You cannot have your boyfriend on top of you.’ That you cannot do those kind of things, I don’t think that’s emotional abuse.”
Workman says that she caught Winter lying on a bed (but not having sex) with her then 18-year-old boyfriend, actor Cameron Palatas.
Moret: “Do you feel you have been portrayed as a monster?
Workman: “Yes, I do, and it’s just so unfair. I’m like every mother in America. When I have to reprimand my child, I do.”
Workman tells Inside Edition she hasn’t seen her daughter in over a year. Later this month, Workman and Winter will come face-to-face when a judge will decide if Workman will lose custody of Winter permanently.
