‘MUD BABY’ FROM 1999 OKLAHOMA TORNADO TALKS TO ‘INSIDE EDITION’
To be broadcast Tuesday, May 21st, 2013
New York, NY—-May 21, 2013—INSIDE EDITION catches up with Aleah Crago, who became known as ‘Mud Baby’ when she was found face-down in the mud after the May 3, 1999 tornado that ripped through Moore, Oklahoma, when she was just ten months old.
Many are remembering Crago today, now 14, as a symbol of survival in the wake of yet another devastating tornado in Moore that has killed at least 51 and injured hundreds.
She tells INSIDE EDITION that she was at her home in Northern Oklahoma, watching the news, when the tornado hit her hometown.
Yet while she was away from the destruction this time, her little sister still lives in the storm-ravaged town – and Crago says she hasn’t heard from her yet.
CRAGO: “I was really sad when I heard about the tornado. My little sister still lives in the Moore area…I don’t know if she’s safe.”
Still, she is positive that stories of survival, just like hers, will emerge soon.
CRAGO: “I hope kids in the schools were lucky like me. I’m praying for them.”
When asked how she survived the 1999 tornado, Crago had this to say:
CRAGO: “[It was] luck and God wanting me to be here on this Earth today.”
