‘INSIDE EDITION’ BEGINS ITS 25TH YEAR ON JANUARY 9, 2013

New York, NY—January 8, 2013—CBS Television Distribution’s INSIDE EDITION, television’s longest-running, top-rated and most-honored syndicated newsmagazine, beginsits 25th year on January 9, 2013. INSIDE EDITION is the number 2 syndicated magazine on the air and has ranked among the top 10 first-run syndicated programs every season since its inception.
To kick off this milestone anniversary, INSIDE EDITION will look back at some of its wackiest, wildest, and weirdest stories, as well as the biggest names in entertainment that the show has chronicled over the past quarter-century.
INSIDE EDITION is anchored by two-time Emmy Award winner Deborah Norville, who joined the newsmagazine in 1995 from CBS News, where she anchored “America Tonight”and reported for “48 Hours,” “Street Stories” and “CBS Evening News.”
"In television, as in nature, if one doesn't evolve, one dies. INSIDE EDITION has been constantly evolving and reinventing itself, always staying true to its mandate of providing real stories about real people, but making sure to be one step ahead of the competition in covering the news and news personalities of the day," Norville says. She is most proud of INSIDE EDITION’s investigative pieces, saying, "I think it really is the singular thing that sets us apart from every other TV show out there."
Working with Norville is an experienced team of broadcast journalists, overseen by Executive Producer Charles Lachman, with Co-Executive Producer Esther Pessin, Managing Editor Kevin Harry, Senior Producer Brian Hendel, and Senior Investigative Producer Bob Read.
“INSIDE EDITION’s unprecedented success in syndication is due to our talented editorial team who excel at story telling, as well as the loyalty of our viewers, the support of CBS Television Distribution, and especially, the dynamic working relationship we’ve established with our affiliated stations,” Lachman says.
INSIDE EDITION’s award-winning investigative unit continues to garner prestige for the broadcast. The unit won a 2012 National Headliner Award, placing first in the “Broadcast Television, Networks, Cable Networks and Syndicators for Business and Consumer Reporting” for its investigation on “Power Bracelets.” This same investigation also garnered an Honorable Mention from the 2012 National Press Journalism Contest in the “Consumer Journalism Broadcast” category. Another Honorable Mention went to INSIDE EDITION’s series of reports on animal abuse, including investigations on animal hoarding and the exotic animal trade in the National Press Club’s “Ann Cottrell Free Animal Reporting” category. The show’s investigative unit was also responsible for several arrests, including a child’s party entertainer who had previously been convicted of sexually molesting an underage boy.
As in past seasons, INSIDE EDITION’s Chief Correspondent Jim Moret was in high demand by numerous media outlets to provide his keen legal commentary on high profile trials, including the legal implications surrounding Whitney Houston’s death. The ever versatile Moret also served as the pulse of pop culture, having accompanied media sensation Honey Boo Boo in a widely publicized trip to Los Angeles, and was front and center at Levi Johnson’s wedding.
Other members of the INSIDE EDITION team are the show’s noted Investigative Unit headed by Senior Producer Bob Read and Chief Investigative Correspondent Lisa Guerrero, with correspondents Megan Alexander, Paul Boyd, Diane McInerney, Victoria Recaño and Les Trent. Boyd and McInerney are also the co-anchors of INSIDE EDITION WEEKEND.
INSIDE EDITION is produced daily by Inside Edition Inc. and distributed by CBS Television Distribution. Check local listings for stations and times at www.insideedition.com.
