INSIDE EDITION: AMERICAN BANDSTAND COUPLE, KENNY AND ARLENE, REMINISCE ABOUT DICK CLARK
“He [Dick Clark] was like a father to us…A friend…a person we’d go to with problems. He was a person that really cared...about everything. ” – Kenny Rossi
To be broadcast nationally Friday, April 20 (Monday, April 23 in NYC on Fox 5)
New York, NY - April 20, 2012 – Kenny Rossi and Arlene Sullivan, former participants on American Bandstand, weigh in on the sudden death of TV legend, Dick Clark, with INSIDE EDITION. The entertainment guru helped make the show an instant sensation in America, filling television sets and radio stations alike with popular music and dance.
Rossi and Sullivan tell INSIDE EDITION Clark was a friend and father figure on and off the iconic television show.
ROSSI: “He was like a father to us. A friend…a person we’d go to with problems. He was a person that really cared…about everything. When we met him, we became part of the show, and he took care of us. Of course, we took care of him by showing up everyday.”
SULLIVAN: “He [Dick Clark] gave us a place to go…we really had a good time. We were just like them [kids who watched the show], and they identified with us. They had boyfriends they were going steady with. When he [Kenny] and I didn’t dance together, oh man, they’d send in telegrams to Dick Clark and he’d read them over the air.”
The “American eternal teenager,” Dick Clark, will be remembered as a great entrepreneur, industry leader and true gentleman.
INSIDE EDITION is produced daily by Inside Edition Inc. and distributed by CBS Television Distribution.
