New York, NY - May 28, 2009 - INSIDE EDITION speaks with actress Kelly McGillis, once a Hollywood sex symbol, about keeping her sexuality a secret for years.  

McGillis, who burned up the big screen with heartthrobs Tom Cruise and Harrison Ford, says she knew she was gay for a ‘long time.'  Last month, McGillis publicly revealed the truth about her sexuality on a lesbian website.

McGillis: "I tried really hard not to be who I am...really hard because I heard the message that it was wrong...I just decided to tell the truth, that's all."

McGillis, who is the mother of two teenaged daughters, tells INSIDE EDITION she struggled with her secret for years, but now feels compelled to be open about herself.

McGillis: "I was always figuring out, ‘What do I say?' ‘It's none of your business?'  At a certain age I don't give a hoot about what people think about me."
