Condola Rashad

Condola Rashad is a respected and talented actress who shines on the stage and screen.

Rashad can next be seen in the Netflix film COME SUNDAY, which will premiere at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival.  The film reunites her with director Joshua Marston, and tells the true story of a renowned evangelical minister, Carlton Pearson (Chiwetel Ejiofor), who stirs up controversy with his revelation that there is no Hell. Rashad plays "Gina," Pearson's wife. The film is based on a 2005 This American Life radio episode, and is being produced by Endgame Entertainment's James D. Stern and This American Life's Ira Glass and Alissa Shipp. Netflix will release the film in the Spring.

Also this Spring, Rashad will return to the Broadway stage as the iconic Joan of Arc in MTC’s Broadway production of SAINT JOAN. The production of George Bernard Shaw’s Pulitzer-winning work, directed by Daniel Sullivan (Lillian Hellman’s The Little Foxes), is set to begin previews at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre April 3, 2018, ahead of an April 25th opening. In 2017, Rashad earned her third Tony Award nomination on behalf of her return to the Broadway stage in Lucas Hnath's Tony-nominated new play A DOLL’S HOUSE, PART 2. Rashad starred opposite Emmy-Award winner Laurie Metcalf, Academy-Award winner Chris Cooper and Tony-Award winner Jayne Houdyshell. Rashad's performance as Emmy, the daughter of estranged Nora (Metcalf) and Torvald (Cooper), was praised by critics. Produced by Scott Rudin, A DOLL'S HOUSE, PART 2 opened at the John Golden Theatre on Thursday, April 27, 2017. The play earned eight Tony Award nominations, including acting nominations for all four cast members.

In the Spring of 2016, Rashad completed production on Academy Award-nominee Milcho Manchevski’s independent film BIKINI MOON, which she stars in as the title character. The film tells the story of a documentary filmmaker and his girlfriend, who take a charismatic but troubled woman (Rashad) into their home, turning their lives upside down.

Later that year, Rashad was seen co-starring in Joshua Marston’s COMPLETE UNKNOWN opposite Michael Shannon and Rachel Weisz, and in Jodie Foster's MONEY MONSTER, opposite George Clooney and Julia Roberts.

Previous television and film credits include a recurring role on NBC's SMASH and a starring turn in the Lifetime remake of STEEL MAGNOLIAS, as well as appearances in SEX AND THE CITY 2, LAW AND ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT and THE GOOD WIFE.

Rashad began her career onstage and made a sensational debut off-Broadway at the Manhattan Theatre Club playing a young girl in a brothel in Lynn Nottage’s 2009 Pulitzer Prize winning play RUINED. She was nominated for Tony Awards and Drama Desk Awards for her roles in Lydia Diamond’s STICK FLY and the late Horton Foote’s THE TRIP TO BOUNTIFUL, opposite Cicely Tyson. In 2013, Rashad played “Juliet” to critical acclaim on Broadway, opposite Orlando Bloom’s "Romeo."

A graduate of California Institute of the Arts, Condola currently resides in New York.
