Special Two-Part Series Will Broadcast on the “CBS Evening News” Monday, Nov. 7 and Tuesday, Nov. 8 and on “The Early Show” on Tuesday, Nov. 8

CBS EVENING NEWS Anchor and Managing Editor Scott Pelley hosted a provocative discussion last week at Independence Hall in Philadelphia.  The panel, featuring eight key business and civic leaders from outside Washington, addressed wide-ranging topics, including what they would do to move the country forward, how the education system should be changed and what young Americans can do to affect Washington politics.

The panelists included Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett; former Washington, D.C. school chancellor Michelle Rhee; National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials Director Arturo Vargas; Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company CEO Eileen McDonnell; Mary Frances Berry, a University of Pennsylvania professor and former Chairperson of Civil Rights Commission under President Clinton; Vanguard Group founder John Bogle; Pedro Jose Greer, M.D., Assistant Dean of Academic affairs at Florida International University and 2009 Presidential Medal of Freedom winner; and Ourtime.org founder Matt Segal.

           Excerpts from the event will be broadcast during the CBS EVENING NEWS on Monday, Nov. 7 and Tuesday, Nov. 8 (6:30 PM, ET) and on THE EARLY SHOW on Tuesday, Nov. 8, on the CBS Television Network.
