Today, the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH NORAH O’DONNELL touched down in Las Vegas for two special editions of the show – broadcasting live from the fountains of the Bellagio Thursday, Feb. 8 and Friday, Feb. 9 (6:30 PM, ET) on CBS and Paramount + ahead of Super Bowl LVIII.

Anchor and managing editor Norah O’Donnell is on the ground to tackle the latest news from the Super Bowl host city. Follow O’Donnell’s reporting in real-time on Instagram (@NorahODonnell) and TikTok (@CBSEveningNews).

Rundown of the CBS EVENING NEWS’ game plan, subject to change, below.

Thursday, Feb. 8

  • Johnny Holland, the San Francisco 49ers’ linebacker coach, shares his story about how he’s tackling an aggressive form of multiple myeloma and raising awareness of the disease. Myeloma is among the most common blood cancers and disproportionately impacts Black people. The gridiron warrior offers words of inspiration through his own medical journey.

  • Kris Van Cleave reports on Las Vegas officials’ efforts to accommodate not only the fans – but all the flights. From private jets to Travis Kelce-inspired flight numbers, nearly half a million people are making their way to the Big Game’s host city, requiring a major logistics game plan.

  • Ed O’Keefe is live from the Bellagio to discuss the political impact of the Supreme Court arguments today on the Trump campaign and the impact of the Special Counsel’s report on the Biden campaign.

Friday, Feb. 9

  • Norah O’Donnell reports on Las Vegas’ vigilant and complex security plan to ensure a safe Super Bowl weekend. Norah boards a helicopter and flies above the strip and Allegiant Stadium with top security officials from U.S. Customs and Border Protection. She also speaks with Chief Cathy Lanier, head of NFL security, about the imperative for cross-collaboration across local, county, state and federal agencies to mitigate threats.

  • Ben Tracy showcases how this Big Game could be a game changer for clean energy – a Super Bowl with “super GREEN power.” Tracy takes a look at a massive solar farm outside of Las Vegas powering the Allegiant Stadium – the first in the NFL powered by 100% renewable energy. Tracy speaks with Secretary of State Jennifer Granholm and Raiders president Sandra Douglass Morgan about the innovation.

  • On the Road” with Steve Hartman brings viewers a more in-depth look at prop betting – and how far they can go. Hartman asks, “Does every element of the Big Game need to be warped into a wager?” He puts the question to the test with several bets of his own.

  • James Brown, host of the NFL TODAY and a CBS News Special Correspondent, joins O’Donnell by the Bellagio Fountains to count down to Super Bowl LVIII and discuss the latest game day analysis.

OVERTIME: On Saturday, Feb. 10, the CBS WEEKEND NEWS will include an additional story from O’Donnell, including a heartfelt piece about the Special Olympics Nevada.
