Drew: Okay now it’s beauty week on the show and I really loved that I think you might have a story for us if you would share that happened with your husband Kevin Bacon.

Kyra:It’s about a bikini line wax that wentawry. It was definitely hot wax. You know the thing is Kev is just good at so many things that I just, he’s so handy around the house, that I just thought how hard could it be? Honestly, Ican'tgo into the details but there was a moment where I thought I can’t pull the strip off, neither one of us could figure out how to pull it off, do we need to go to the hospital? I didn’t have to luckily….Just the 1,2,3 and hope for the best.

Kyra Sedgwick Shares Her Tom Cruise Story

Drew: By the way I read that you like to go through people's drawers and of course I had to follow it up with I like to peek in a medicine cabinet too I’m not going to lie.

Kyra:Oh definitely. I don’t really peek inpeople'sdrawers, but I will like look around and see what is in plain sight. Are you talking about my Tom Cruise story?

Drew: I love it so much. It’s my favorite, it delighted me to no end.

Kyra:It’s a pretty good story. It was a sad moment, but it was a funny story. So I was pregnant, I was very pregnant, and we got invited over to dinner. I had worked with Tom but Kev was doing, I did ‘Born on the 4thof July’ but he was doing ‘A Few Good Men’ and so we got invited over for dinner with lots of famous people like Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, because she was in the movie. Rob Reiner was there, it was a flow, and Nicole was there. It was one of those nights that I often don’t get invited to and so there was this like fireplace mantle and I was looking around and there was this little button underneath the mantle. I was like, ‘Oh what is that little button? So I pressed the little button because I thought maybe something interesting will happen. Nothing happened and then I got a little nervous. I was like, ‘Oh nothing happened that doesn’t seem right.’ So I tapped Tom on the shoulder, who was in the middle of a story, and I said, ‘I pressed this button down here.’ And he was like, ‘You pressed that button?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, I pressed that button.’ And he goes, ‘That’s the panic button.’ And so the cops came, they had to stop the screening, they had to see Tom….I think there were more than like five cop cars, it was something. I didn’t get invited back.

Kyra on Her Long-Lasting Marriage to Kevin Bacon

Drew: I actually was talking to Brene Brown on the show and I literally said, ‘What is it like for people like me that sort of maybe have abandonment issues?’ Which I think I’ve worked through, but when I was growing up and having relationships I always thought, and there are a lot of people out there like this, that something is going to go wrong and you’re going to leave. You said about Kevin, that when we fight believing that that person is not leaving, it’s a very different fight. That is so profound, how do you know that?

Kyra: I don’t know. I don’t know how I know it. I struggle with these questions because I honestly feel we just got lucky and we are both just in it for the long haul. He’s such a sticker and I’m such a sticker and I just know no matter what we are not going to go anywhere. Most people have abandonment issues, my parents got divorced when I was little, I definitely have those issues. I don’t know why I know more that he’s not going to leave me. I don’t know that other people aren’t going to leave me, I worry about that a lot,but I know he’s not going to only because it’s just a deep knowing that’s sort of like indescribable.

Drew: I love when you said that I think it's veryconfidence-instillingfor people.

Kyra on Relating to The Character She Plays on “Call Your Mother” & How She Embraces Being an Empty Nester

https://drewbarrymoreshow.cimediacloud.com/r/ekyaaXWl4CYl

Kyra: I relate to Jean because her kids are gone. I think that it is such a weird thing that happens, that if you do your job right as a mom your kids leave you but also I love that Genetries so hard. I try hard.

Drew: I try so hard, I really do and my kids are still luckily at that age where they indulge me, but I did read that you and Kevin walk around the house naked since you’ve been empty nesters, is this true, because I do it too!

Kyra:I mean more naked than usual but like I wouldn’t say we are naked all the time by any stretch.

Drew: When my kids go to their dads and no one is in the house I fully walk around naked and it’s like I’ve slept naked, and I’ll go out and get my morning tea naked because I can and it’s so exciting what a freedom.

Sawyer Spielberg on How His Dad's Directing Skills Helped Him Get Up for School:

https://youtu.be/4Z7_FWHli7U
Drew: I love the story of how he would wake you up in the morning.

Sawyer:When I was a teenager,I had a hard time getting up for school and one morning he came in and he said, ‘Okay, I’m a Director, you’re an actor, I’m going to barge into your room and I’m going to say action. And you have to get up, brush your teeth and head down for breakfast.’ Sure enough he came in, he said, ‘Action,’ and I got up, brushed my teeth and came down for breakfast and it worked. So his directing skills have worked in both the cinema and at home.
