Chelsea on Becoming Self-Aware

Drew: Do you ever think a perfectly straight arrow life is like fun or obtainable or are we always going to be a little like, let’s face it, a little naughty?

Chelsea: For me no, I don’t think I’m ever going to be conservative. I’m self-aware and I’m wild. It’s kind of transitional period because you are given the gift of self-awareness and then you have to, in my case, I  overcorrected. I was like, ‘Oh I’ve been this way for so long, this is how I come across. I better shut up and sit down.’ And then people are like, ‘Why aren’t you talking at dinners with multiple people? You used to be the life of the party.’ I’m like, ‘I’m not doing that anymore. I’m just not going to insert myself. I don’t have to be the life of the party, that’s not my responsibility anymore.’ And then you somehow get to a place where you have to marry with your old personality with the new awareness you have. You know what I mean? Because I still want the edge, I still want to be the person that’s going to say the thing that somebody else is scared to say or stick my neck out a little bit further then maybe the person next to me. I’m just leaning into now, okay, now I’m a little bit more aware, a lot more aware. I am a lot more conscientious of others, I’ve cultivated an empathy. So I’m in much better hands with myself then I was about even five years ago.

Drew: I couldn’t agree more, and I love how you just said that. I know I just had an Aha moment, thank you Oprah, when  I had my kids I knew that I didn’t want to be on a film set all the time being other people and being away from my kids 18 hours a day. I had lived that life and I was ready to lean in as a parent but I felt so disloyal to the life I had lived. And I felt like I was disembarking from a port that was everything I knew, my work….and I was like, ‘Who am I going to become?,’ and then I got married, then I got divorced and I just had the hardest five years of my life. I was like everything I left to become isn’t working and where do I go from here?...

Chelsea: You got married and divorced like five times.

Drew: Three times by the way and never again because at that point you decide either you’re going to be Liz Taylor and marry eight times, and there is no way I want four more marriages, I don’t even want one more marriage.

Chelsea on Rekindling Romance with 50 Cent

Drew: What about you? If you were to create the mood board of your future what does it look like?

Chelsea: So I really need an outdoorsy guy that can handle my BS, that can put up with a confident strong woman but is still going to tell me to sit down and shut up when I’ve had too much to drink and can’t stop talking. Do you know what I mean? I like a little old fashioned balance. I may have to get back together with 50 Cent at this point because I promised him that, we spoke the other night and I said jokingly like, ‘I’m ready to get back together or possibly go for another spin,’ I know this is a morning show so I won’t go too deep into that. And he was like, ‘Hey, were you serious about what you wrote about us getting back together?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, totally, I am open to anything buddy.’ So who knows, maybe I’ll get back together with 50. He actually got a kick out of me, he gets my humor and he likes it and finds it attractive and not like a turn off.

Drew: You really do want to be on a see saw with someone going up and down. Listen, love it ebbs and flows and we expect to say on the same plain all the time and that isn’t even like how one person works inside of themselves….

Chelsea: I do want to experience big love. Like I want to fall head over heels in love with somebody. I want to flirt and text. Like, I do crave that. So I hope that’s in my near future.

Drew: We have rebranded self-love to fit our definition. Ready for it everybody? Because we’ve been waiting months to say this, ‘Go Fix Yourself.’ It’s all about doing the inner maintenance and we actually submitted it to the urban dictionary and here it is, this is our official entry, ’Go Fix Yourself: Doing the messy  and sometimes hard work on your emotional and physical health as a new strategy for taking care of yourself.’…If you will join us, because I love a collective social experiment, to post pictures on social media with the #GoFixYourself.
