Drew & Natalie Portman Reminisce About Working Together When They Were Younger
https://app.cimediacloud.com/r/iIHjeWISrRkF
Natalie: We worked together when I was 14. You were like just a few years older.
Drew: Like, I mean, I'm, I think I was like 21, 22.
Natalie: And we were just like running around Paris and in New York. It was such, it was dreamy. It was so fun and there were so many people like our age, it was like Natasha Lyonne and Gaby Hoffman and Liv Tyler and Lucas Haass, and it was just so fun. We had the best time.
Drew: I remember you. I always tell you this, I always remember you drinking milk.
Natalie: Really?
Drew: Yeah, and, and I would go, why are you drinking milk? And you would go cause for my bones. I wanna be strong and tall.
Natalie: Such a nerd.
Drew: And I was like and you're going to be. I know my daughter yesterday was like, I didn't, I'm not as tall as I thought I'd be, and I was like, yeah, I don't, you're not as tall as I thought you'd be either, and she was like, oh no. And I was like, I don't mean it in a bad way I just, you, she was tall, really young, and then kind of like leveled out. I think she's gonna net out at about 5'3.
Natalie: I was always really, really short and stayed really, really short. My kids are like, oh, I'm getting growing pains, and I'm like, what is that? Never happened to me, I have no idea. Never grew.
Natalie on Wearing Her Son’s Fashion Line on Stage with Role Model and How She Ended Up as Sally
https://app.cimediacloud.com/r/zqPndQYFwmwx
Drew: Does your son design for maybe something you might be wearing?
Natalie: The Vante, this is his design. I'm so proud of him. Yeah, he started his own company. He figured out how to make everything, and yeah, I'm so proud of him.
Drew: OK, what? How did this transpire?
Natalie: He's just like very entrepreneurial, very impressive young man, and I guess you can teach yourself these kinds of things online these days, which is what he did.
Drew: This is like, this is fantastic.
Natalie: I know, thank you.
Drew: Did you also wear your son's brand on stage with the great Role Model, the singer who is everybody's favorite singer, I mean he's so popular, it's insane and that's you too and that was Madison Square Garden?
Natalie: Yes. It was so terrifying. I don't know how he does it. It was so crazy because I was, so I was working with Tucker, which is Role Model's real name, on a movie that Lena Dunham wrote and directed this summer, which was so exciting.
Drew: I'm the biggest Lena Dunham fan, have been forever, and I'm so excited for this film, and I love you in comedies.
Natalie: And it's so fun to do, man, it's so joyful that means a lot from you who's like the greatest comedies and romantic comedies of all time.
Drew: So you're working together and that's how this.
Natalie: So we worked together and then he had a concert at Madison Square Garden and he was like, ‘Do you wanna come do this Sally thing?’ And I was like okay. And then all of a sudden it's like Madison Square Garden, like hundreds of thousands of people, and I'm like, what did I sign up for? And they tell me you can, you go on you stay till the end of the song and then at the end of the song you can go off and then I'm on and I think Tucker saw the like terror in my eyes. I was just like oh no oh no and he was like, you can, you can leave and he just gave me a hug and like pushed me off the stage because I think he saw that I was fully panicking.
I'm like but I was wearing a Vante shirt so I was like a banner.
Natalie on Taking Time Off from Acting for College
https://app.cimediacloud.com/r/24Y1B5wfSFl3
Drew: Because I knew you before, and then I love that you did take that time for yourself and did go to school and that was something that was your priority and how did you take that risk?
And I ask you because sometimes we all have things that we wanna do in life, but we're scared to get off the path we're on and take that side step.
Natalie: Well thank you so much for saying it in that way I didn't feel like it was brave in any way actually for me I think from my family it would have been brave to be like I'm not going to school because it was so expected like you know, my grandfather had like 4 PhDs that was like super academic family. My, you know, my parents, it was like not a question. It's like after high school you go to college.
Drew: Clearly you're from a long line of really smart people.
Natalie: Well, it was honestly it was such a blessing because my friends from college are still my best best friends today and have been like my everything in my life, so it was the biggest blessing in my life.

Drew: Is it true that you love the Babysitters Club?
Natalie: Oh, I'm, again, I'm really hitting this theme of I'm such a nerd.
Drew: Hot nerd, by the way.
Natalie: I loved that book series so, so much.
Drew: Is it true the author signed a book for you?
Natalie: I waited in line. There used to be, I grew up on Long Island and there was like a kid's bookstore that I used to get all my books at and Ann M. Martin, the author of The Babysitters Club, came to do a signing, and I waited 4 hours to meet her, and I created like a presentation for her of a character because there weren't any Jewish babysitters and I was like, we need representation. I like had a whole presentation of like why there should be a Jewish babysitter character in the book. Such a nerd.

Drew: ‘Black Swan.’ The greatest film ever for which you won your academy award…you trained for hours to play this ballerina what’s the worst injury you got while shooting?
Natalie: I don’t know I misplaced a rib or something, it like went under it was really, it was from being lifted all the time. That was really wild.
Drew: ‘No Strings Attached.’ How did you and Greta Gerwig bond on and off screen.
Natalie: She’s the best I love her. We did a lot we had a lot of big girl dinners all the time because there were so many amazing girls in it. Mindy Kaling was in it, Liz Merriweather who wrote it we had a really incredible group so we had a lot of girls dinners and we still do.

Natalie: I took one of Anakin’s braids. The little clip on.
Drew: I feel like I heard him talking about that hairdo recently.
Natalie: It’s quite iconic. The only problem, I lost it. I don’t know where it is now. I stole it and lost it.
