Drew: You guys are both empty nesters now.

Denis: Yes, we really party now that the kids are gone. We go, we go to bed at like 8.

Michelle: You do feel empty when they leave.

Drew: You do. What's it like?

Michelle: I mean, it doesn't last, but it, you always look, see, I mean, it, you, I mean you miss them terribly. It's like an appendage is gone. You do, and it feels, what are you looking at me like that for?

Denis: I'm not, that's, I just have resting bitch face.  I'm literally I'm agreeing and listening to you.

Drew: And Denis harnessed Douglas so he doesn't lick Michelle.

Michelle: Anyway, it does, you do recover.

Michelle on Becoming a Grandmother & This New Chapter of Her Life

Michelle: I didn't have big holidays growing up either. We're a family coming together. I didn't have that either.

Drew: What did that feel like and what did the film feel like, which is a very full family and has traditions, and now we're at, we meet them at this moment in time.

Michelle: Well, I think they're in transition like I am, but I'm in, I'm in I'm exactly in that transition where my kids are now grown and I'm a grandmother.

Drew: You just became a grandmother last year.

Michelle: Pardon me for bragging, but all of the, you know, me and my siblings all had children around the same time, and they were all kind of around the same age and we got together and we played, we had every holiday and it was huge holiday but then they grow up and then they all leave, you know, at the same time and they start their lives and I think it's a hard adjustment sharing holidays now they get married and they have.

Denis: That's like one of the key things in the movie from Michelle's character.

Michelle on Hosting Thanksgiving & Her Turkey Coming Out Frozen

https://app.cimediacloud.com/r/5zq7DUI3jbGh
Michelle: I just did Thanksgiving.

Drew: How was it?

Michelle: It was so wonderful having everyone over. It was, and it was so important to me, and I worked so hard and I got in like the day before the guests were coming. It was not well planned and, I cooked a turkey and it just, I always get nervous about the turkey and I think it was because I had this experience many years ago where the turkey was frozen and I didn't know it. And so I planned like 4 hours to cook the turkey and like 8 hours later it's not done and people were stuck we literally it was like we ordered pizza and so I have that, that PTSD and you know what happened? The turkey didn't cook again. Yes, an hour and a half late and it still wasn't done. Finally I had to just cut into it, get the done pieces to my guests and put the raw pieces back in the oven. It was like my worst nightmare.

Drew: May I make a suggestion. Have you ever spatchcocked the turkey?

Denis: What's that?

Drew: You splay it and it's one of those turkeys that looks like that.

Michelle: It was too late for that.

Drew: I'm telling you, spatchcock your turkey, it'll save you every time. I now know this.

Michelle on Working at Vons Grocery Store & Customers Response to Her

https://app.cimediacloud.com/r/NapTtEGS3wCi
Drew: Did you work at Vons? Is it true you worked at Vons?

Michelle: I was a checker.

Drew: I went and did my grocery shopping in West Hollywood as a child at Vons.

Michelle: We could, I could have checked your groceries. Well, I mean, but I didn't work at that one.

Drew: What was it like to work at Vons and like, did anyone ever, I mean, you're a checkout girl, you're you like I know you maybe you weren't you then, but you're still you. Did you get like hit on a lot?

Michelle: Oh no. I remember one woman I worked, I worked right down the street from Leisure World, so I would get a lot of elderly people in there and I remember one woman coming in and going, ‘Oh honey, you're so cute. How do you have such a round face and such a tiny little body?’

Thanks. Lucky I guess. I don't know.

Drew: Vons was my grocery store growing up, so that I was a.

Michelle: I did. I was a box girl for a long time, and then I was, I was promoted to checker. I wasn't a very good one. I tried really hard but I could never balance my register. I actually was really lucky to have that job.
