Linda Evangelista on Playing a Gameboy with Drew in an Airport in the 90s

https://app.cimediacloud.com/r/9tJygBfB9NLf
Linda: I wanted to ask you because I don't know if you remember. When I turned 25 my mother said to me, ‘What would you like for your birthday?’ And I said, ‘A game boy’ and she got so mad and said, ‘I am not buying my model daughter, a game boy, 25 years old.’ I mean, and I was like ok, I'll buy it myself. So here I am with my game boy. I had flown from Los Angeles to Paris connecting to the south of France and there you were in the lounge. I'm on my game boy and I spot you and I'm like, oh my God, that's Drew Barrymore. And I look at you and you're on your game boy and you're across the lounge and we just keep making eye contact and I was like, just do it, Linda, do it. And I said to you, ‘Do you wanna hook up?’ And you said, ‘What do you mean?’ And I pulled the cord out of my bag, someone had just given me this very obscure cord where you could put two game boys together and play against each other. And we played it. Do you remember?

Drew: We played Tetris.

Linda: We played Tetris.

Linda: The icon thing came, I give most of the credit to George Michael because he catapulted us into like another place. We were just hitting fashion people and suddenly I was being recognized by kids on the street or, you know, and that's what really did it.

Drew: What was it like making the Freedom video? Did you know, at the time it would have such a…

Linda: No, I had no idea. I didn't want to do it like, no, I, it wasn't fashion. I just, my dream was fashion and George wore me down and I developed an incredible friendship with George. Miss him.

Drew: Such an amazing person.

Linda: Fun and easy and unpretentious and normal.

Drew: Describe your perfect match.

Linda: Well, Linda doesn't have a perfect match so far. I haven't, whatever, I think my perfect match is I need to change over to something, a new direction because whatever my match or my type is hasn't worked out.
