Drew: Is it true that the woman who designed this is Keanu Reeves’ mom?

Dolly: Yes. She did a lot of sewing for me, she did a lot of my clothes but I remember Keanu when he was just little and she would bring him over to my house when we were fitting or when I would go to the shop where she worked. So one day years and years ago I was doing a show somewhere and somebody knocked on the door, and of course Keanu was already famous at that time, he knocked on the door and he said, ‘Do you remember me? I’m the little boy that used to sit at your feet while my mom was doing,’ and I said, ‘Oh my god.’ I knew he had become a star but it didn’t connect to me that that was who that was.

Drew: And I heard that he wore it for Halloween one year. He wore this exact outfit.

Dolly: Oh did he? He’s great. He’s the sweetest guy.

Drew: This is the most interesting, flattering silhouette. I love the bunny suit.

Dolly: I do too, and my husband and I have been married fifty years and on his birthday I thought, ‘I am going to go in and take Carl his breakfast in my bunny suit,’ so I did. This was just two, three years ago. He loved it. That was the best breakfast I think he ever had.

Drew: What do you think of Taylor Swift now re-recording everything so she can own it?

Dolly: Oh smart. She’s so smart, she’s so great, she’s a genius. Look at what she’s doing that’s amazing. That’s the way to do it and I’ve done a lot of that myself in the last couple years to re-record a lot of the stuff that I did that was on other labels.

Drew: Do you ever think about pulling out those cozy sweats and kicking back a bit, is that ever in your future?

Dolly: No. I’ve never once thought that I would retire. Now I have said that I might slow down a bit for a time if my husband was sick or if I was physically ill but that would be the only thing that would ever stop me…but I would still try to find ways to work around it…
