Jay Shetty on Second Chance Romances Like Jennifer Lopez & Ben Affleck and Seeing Their Love Up Close While Officiating Their Wedding

Drew: A relationship I feel like all of us have, with a great deal of fascination but because I think it feels so personal for people is Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck. You officiated their wedding?

Jay: Yes.

Drew: Why do you think that we have such a beautiful hope and aspiration for re-finding a love that we had that we got away from, and can you come back together?

Jay: Well I feel like we all have someone that we consider the one that got away. And the one that got away is not always the one we should get back with. Just putting it out there in case we’re gonna break up some marriages today. But I think there’s this idea that if we had something special, why did we lose it, why did we give it away, why did we let it go, but you have to go on your individual journey of growth to reunite again. You don’t just reunite because you have the same old feelings, it’s because you have new growth. The same old feelings will just create the same old patterns and will lead to the same old result. For me that moment was really special because getting to see love up close is really beautiful. I remember when Jennifer Lopez was walking down the aisle and Ben’s hands were shaking, her lips were quivering, you saw a tear roll down the eye. I was just watching those micro moments, these really mindful, present moments of love. Watching love up close is really beautiful and really special.

Phoebe Robinson on What She’s Learned From Her Recent Breakup

https://app.cimediacloud.com/r/3TAgoYr9GK75

Drew: You’re recently single?

Phoebe: Yes.

Drew: Did you go through a breakup?

Phoebe: Yes, I initiated it so you know, it’s okay. It sucks for both of us but for me it’s like ten percent easier.

Drew: Why do you think, with what you’re comfortable to share, that you broke up. What did you learn? What would you do different next time?

Phoebe: That is such a good question. I am now thirty-eight so I feel like you kind of have a little more wisdom, you know more what you want, so I think what I would do differently this time is, and I think a lot of women do this where you just go, ‘Oh it’s okay,’ so you just constantly say that things are fine even thought they’re not and you’re a little more frustrated. So I think I would speak up a little bit more and I think I’m also a person who gives a lot of chances, so I think now I’m gonna like end it, I’m gonna wrap it up a little bit sooner. Women, we waste so much time and I don’t want to waste any more time.

Drew: Jay, hearing this what are your thoughts?

Jay: I mean I love what you’re saying. I think so many of us stay in relationships for too long because we either become dependent, we settle for less than we deserve, or we struggle to breakup because we think we’re inadequate or unworthy if we don’t have someone in our lives, and so it sounds like you’re quite courageous in order to take this path of saying, ‘Well actually it’s better to be alone than to be with someone just to say I’m with someone.’

Phoebe: Listen Jay you can’t be saying these things with these light eyes. I know you’re married, but come on.

Drew Shares the Meaning Behind the New Tattoo She Got with Savannah Guthrie

https://app.cimediacloud.com/r/CHV9Uow9BBsV

Drew: Speaking of relationships, I am lucky enough to have a wonderful friendship with the one and only Savannah Guthrie, and she had never gotten a tattoo so we talked about it for the last like three years…and we finally got it. This is mine and that’s the three sardines for me and my daughters. We are the three sardines. That’s actually us in the bed, the bed is our little can, and without question when it’s time to depart this beautiful Earth and find out what waits, the best thing I know I’ve ever done with my life is sleep in a bed with my two daughters. I’m always in the middle, and being the can of sardines. And Savannah got a very meaningful tattoo as well, it's her father’s handwriting and it says, ‘All my love.’ So we both went for these very familial tattoos…I love my tattoo so much.
