VIDEO GAME TESTER FROM LOS ANGELES WINS $50,000 IN THE "JEOPARDY!" TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS

CULVER CITY, CALIF. (May 21, 2010) - Stefan Goodreau, a 26-year-old video game tester from Los Angeles, placed third in the prestigious "Jeopardy!" Tournament of Champions, taking home $50,000 in cash winnings.  Goodreau played a variety of impressive games earning him a spot in the finals of the tournament.

"Even before any Final ‘Jeopardy!' responses were revealed in my previous matches, I knew that I would win," Goodreau said.  "However, with the raised level in competition at the Tournament of Champions, there was a lot more that was up in the air.  The buzzer competition was far more fierce as was the knowledge competition in general."

Goodreau competed in the two-day final competition against Vijay Balse, a chemical engineer from Chatham, N.J., and Jason Zollinger, an engine assembler from South Dayton, N.Y.

When asked what he'll do with his winnings, Goodreau replied, "I'm not one to spend readily so I have no idea at the moment." He added, "But, I have started considering the pursuit of a music education a little more seriously."

The Los Angeles native first appeared on "Jeopardy!" in July 2009, accumulating $84,870 as a five-day champion.  In his free time, Stefan enjoys participating in a choir at Loyola Marymount University and making his own music.

Balse finished first in the tournament, winning $250,000. Zollinger finished second, pocketing $100,000. The six players eliminated in the semi-finals each took home $10,000; players eliminated in the first round received $5,000.
