ET EXCLUSIVE | ET SURPRISES GARTH BROOKS BY REUNITING HIM WITH BREAST CANCER PATIENT AND LONGTIME FAN

November 11, 2014 (Los Angeles, CA) - ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT surprised Grammy-Award winning musician Garth Brooks by reuniting him with longtime fan and breast cancer patient Teresa Shaw.  Shaw, who is a mother of three, attended Brooks’ concert on Friday where she was serenaded and given a guitar by Brooks after he saw her sign about undergoing chemotherapy earlier that day.  A teary-eyed Brooks relives that night to ET’s Nancy O’Dell explaining, “We're in the second of two shows in one night…We're doing two shows some nights, back to back, so we do four shows in 24 hours and you're looking at the drummer and he's peeling skin off his fingers and you're looking at everybody and everybody's trying to stay up.  That's a big ask for these people to do that. And then you see someone with a sign that says, ‘Chemo This Morning. [Garth Tonight. Enjoying The Dance.]’ And you're like, ‘Am I really [complaining] about anything? Really?’ It put it all in perspective. Caught me off guard, but [Shaw] was so sweet and her face just said it all…No walls, no barriers, that's when magic happens, that's it.”

Once O’Dell revealed the surprise, Brooks put the focus on Shaw, who he considers an inspiration, and then surprised Shaw once again with an a cappella version of The Dance.

Brooks’ highly-anticipated album Man Against Machine is out today.
