ET EXCLUSIVE | MAMA JUNE’S MOTHER ON BEING CONTACTED BY “CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES”

October 31, 2014 (McDonough, GA) - ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT spoke exclusively to June ‘Mama June’ Shannon’s mother Sandra Hale in which she opens up about the recent reports that her daughter is dating registered sex offender Mark McDaniel, the man that molested her granddaughter Anna Marie Cardwell when she was eightyearsold.  While remembering the day when Cardwell first went to a teacher to say she had been molested by Mama June’s boyfriend McDaniel, Hale revealed her initial reaction stating, “I wanted to kill him.”  She continues to say that she feels that Mama June is still in denial explaining, “I had heard that she had blamed me and my husband for putting that into Anna's head what happened to her.  At that time, I said that there's no way anybody could have thought up what happened to her unless it actually happened to her.”

Hale tells ET that she had been contacted by Georgia's Child Protective Services on Wednesday, October 29, but wouldn't say what she had discussed with the agency saying, "The only thing I can tell you is that I said to please look into it carefully and closely.  They assured me they would."  She goes on to say, “This is not the first time that I have been called…I think this is the third case she's been in.”

Hale admits that she fears for the safety of her young granddaughters who are still living with Mama June, especially nine-year-old Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson stating, “I say that is because that's about the same age he likes. [The same age] he messed with Anna."

When asked if she thinks that Mama June should have her children taken away Hale says, “I think that Sugar Bear should get Alana, so she is safe…I think they need to be in a safe environment and right now I don't think they're in a safe environment.”
