MATT AMODIO WINS 13th GAME, BECOMES #5 ON
‘JEOPARDY!’ WINNERS LISTS WITH $430,200 TOTAL
CNBC’s David Faber Wraps Guest Host Run With $154,000 Donation to Robin Hood Foundation
Joe Buck to Guest Host August 9-13
CULVER CITY, CALIF. (August 6, 2021) – Matt Amodio, a graduate student from New Haven, Conn., notched his 13th straight win today and became number five on two JEOPARDY! lists: highest winnings (regular games) and consecutive games won. His winnings to date total $430,200.
To keep his streak going, Amodio says he tries to change his strategy: “If you get too much in a rut, you might start making mistakes. I’ve tried to keep it fresh each time.”
Today also marks the end of David Faber’s time as guest host of JEOPARDY!. As he departs, the show will make a $154,000 contribution to the Robin Hood Foundation.
Faber selected the Robin Hood Foundation to receive a donation equal to the total contestant winnings during his week of shows. Robin Hood is New York City’s largest poverty-fighting philanthropy: for over 30 years, they’ve been finding, fueling, and creating the most impactful and scalable solutions to elevate families out of poverty. Last year, Robin Hood partnered with over 700 nonprofits to support food, housing, education, legal services, workforce development, and more supporting New Yorkers living in poverty across all five boroughs.
On Monday, August 9, Joe Buck will begin a week-long term as JEOPARDY! guest host. He selected KidSmart in St. Louis as his chosen charity. KidSmart’s mission is to empower children in need to succeed in school by providing free essential tools for learning. Each year 90,000 St. Louis area children cannot afford basic school supplies. KidSmart’s impact is paramount to improving children’s access to quality education.
Joe Buck is a Sports Emmy®-winning sportscaster and three-time recipient of the National Sportscaster of the Year award who is known for his NFL and MLB coverage on FOX Sports. He has served as the play-by-play announcer for the World Series for the past twenty years and is only the third announcer in history to lead a single television network's MLB and NFL coverage in the same year. He was also the 2020 winner of the Pete Rozelle Award, which is presented annually by the Pro Football Hall of Fame in recognition of longtime exceptional contributions to radio and television in professional football.
