Drew: Okay Renee you are up first. When you were in ‘Hamilton’ what would you and Lin Manuel Miranda say in sort of like the huddle before you would go on?
Renee: The prayer circle before 'Hamilton,' he used to say two things one that I loved, ’It’s like a restaurant we’re chefs. It doesn’t matter what the reviews are those people out there, if the meal isn’t good, it’s not good.’ And the second thing he would say which just moved me so much was, ‘Whatever you do. I’m proud of you. Whatever you do out there, I’m already proud of you.’…
Drew: Okay Paula, you were a legendary writer on ‘SNL,’ I was lucky enough to get to be there in the years that you were there as well, you don’t have to tell us who but was there like a biggest tantrum that you ever saw backstage at ‘SNL’?
Paula: The biggest tantrum I saw was actually for one of our anniversary shows. I remember someone getting so mad that rehearsals were taking so long and they stormed down the hall out of 8H storming, stomping, with a couple of people nervously behind them because they were missing a Broadway show and they kept going, ‘Thanks a lot NBC. Thanks a lot ‘SNL.’ I mean everybody was looking at him, storming…He just stormed out and slammed every door that he could and everybody was like, ‘Alright.’ You did not throw a fit and scream, you just didn’t do it.
Drew:….Have you ever had something happen in your personal life? A physical discomfort what do you do?
Sara: You want to know what happens if I have to fart, that’s what is happening right?
Drew: Or like you just broke up with someone? Farting and heartbreak?
Sara: You know in terms of the emotional stuff, there’s just not a world where you can’t bring it with you somehow…Things happen, you spend a lot of time on that stage.
Drew: Busy, what did you guys talk about in the car in that iconic scene?
Busy: Well mostly, this is true, mostly when they said 'cut,' Shawn and Marlon were asking us the lyrics to 1,000 Miles, and we were asking them the lyrics to the rap song and to help us learn.
Busy on Taking Stripper Pole Lessons For Her Role in “Girls5eva”

Drew: So Busy there is a story about you wanting to work the choreography and you took it a step further.
Busy:Oh yeah, well listen an actor prepares, I learned on ‘White Chicks.’…Texted me and said, ‘Hey we are working on this thing for an upcoming episode do you by any chance pole dance?’ And I said, ‘I don’t yet but I’m going to.’ SothenI found my own pole instructor…it’s so hard, I do get good.
Paula:I can’t even hold on a pole on thesubway.
Busy: The other thing is too because it’s a Tina Fey show, the jokes are so fast, I did all this training and the scene is legitimately 15 seconds, so I mean I feel good about it.
Drew Reveals She Had Huge Crush on Andrew McCarthy & Andrew on Brat Pack Reunion
https://drewbarrymoreshow.cimediacloud.com/r/MyGXbG7i3LUO
Drew: Oh my God I am totally freaking out. It’s so good to see you.
Andrew: Do you know when the last time we met was? It was on St. Elmo’s Fire set.
Drew: And I had a huge crush on you but weirdly I decided to tell you I had a crush on Corey Feldman. I mean, you must have had girls falling at your feet. What was it like to be that guy?
Andrew: I don’t think I was, I think Rob Lowe was that guy. I was the other guy. I was very shy person and suddenly I was very in the public and present and people were coming up to me and stuff I found that kind of weird and bizarre.
Drew: I’ve heard that you felt like a little bit of an outsider sometimes with the Brat Pack, what is your relationship now?
Andrew: Well the last meeting was cancelled because of Covid but we are going to have our next Brat Pack reunion next month.
Drew: I’m so excited are you kidding me?
Andrew: I am kidding you. No but I was just doing Rob Lowe’s podcast last week and Rob was like, ‘We’ve got to get everybody together. One room, big dinner, lock the doors. ‘ And you know we do because it was such an odd singular time and it happened to a small group of people and it so affected our lives so thoroughly.
Behind the Scenes with Andrew McCarthy Sharing Details on “St. Elmo’s Fire,” “Mannequin,” “Pretty in Pink” and More
https://drewbarrymoreshow.cimediacloud.com/r/uuuar17ur1UD
Drew: First up ‘St. Elmo’s Fire.’
Andrew: Well it was off set what comes to me first. I was renting a place in Los Angeles and my next door neighbor was Betty Davis. I never saw her until one night I had a few drinks and I decided I’m going to meet Betty Davis and I went and knocked on her door and then I panicked and I just ran home. And that was it, I never met her.
Drew: Okay, ‘Mannequin.’
Andrew: I had to ride a motorcycle in the movie, and I couldn’t ride it. I would just get so tense and I crashed early on and they were like, ‘No he’s not joking he can’t ride the motorcycle.’ So they had to just hook it up to some rig every time I rode it and put a fan on me to blow my hair and all this kind of stuff because I was so incapable of riding my motorcycle.
Drew: Okay, ‘Less than Zero’?
Andrew: I never read the book…which we would all sit around and talk about the book and I would be like, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah.’ I have no idea what they are talking about.
Drew: Last one, ‘Weekend At Bernie’s’
Andrew: The problem with telling stories about ‘Weekend At Bernie’s’ is everything is on screen. Anything you could think of, it wasn’t stupid enough…You could do anything to Bernie. We realized the more you abused his body the funnier it was going to be.
Drew: Is it true you wore a wig at the very end of ‘Pretty in Pink’ because you had shaved your head for ‘Less than Zero’ already?
Andrew: I was doing a play in New York, and I shaved my head, but I do have a wig on at the end of ‘Pretty in Pink’ because we reshot the ending and so when I go to Molly at the prom and tell her I love her and I’m a terrible person and she’s great that was all a reshoot.
