Gloria Estefan & Drew on 40s Being The Best Years of Their Lives

Drew: You had said I believe that your 40s were one of your favorite decades.
Gloria: Yes, absolutely. When people say, ‘Oh no I’m turning 40,’ especially women, I tell them that’s my favorite decade. You’re still hot, my body was on point because I had been working out so much after that accident and I got a little miracle when I was 37 they had told me I’d never be able to have another baby and I had my daughter Emily. It was the best years of my life, I actually took time off from touring to be able to go to her games because she was an amazing basketball player…she was a musician and I would go to all her shows, we took her to school every day Emilio and I and I picked her up. I had the luxury at that time to be able to really choose what I wanted to do. Yeah, 40’s were magnificent. Every decade has been great because I always say, ‘You’re either older or dead,’ so I’ll take whatever comes with it.
Drew: The reason I love hearing you talk about your 40s with a beautiful reverie and positivity is I am smack dab in the middle of them right now and this decade without question has been the best of my life and I am glad that we were able to have these life paths where we could focus on work and then take time off when we had our kids, and that’s such a blessing and a luxury.
Gloria: It’s a luxury and not many women can take their kids to work, which I did.
Gloria Reveals She Went On Her Son’s First Date & The Ladies Discuss Spying On Your Partner
https://drewbarrymoreshow.cimediacloud.com/r/2UKD6CSqvvtS
Drew: What age should kids be allowed to date?
Gloria: I confess I went on my son’s first date with him. He was in fifth grade and he wanted to ask an older girl to the movies and I didn’t want to tell him no, and then Emily never dated or at least I didn’t know she was dating, let’s put it that way.
Emily: I dated in secret.
Drew: She was like, ‘How do I get my mom to not go on this date? I’m just not going to tell her.’
Emily: Thank God, she would have been on all my dates.
Lily: …I want to say 15.
Drew: I definitely feel like I want to greet my daughters first date with an NDA, chastity belt, numerous paraphernalia that is completely intimidating and this person should know that I am either accompanying them or one wrong move happens and….Lily have you ever checked your partner’s phone?
Lily: No, but I should have. I never ever checked my kids phone or my ex-husband’s phone, but I should have.
Drew: I think that karma will come back on you for being a person of grace and I remember I was I think 16, I was living with a boyfriend, oh God this is so embarrassing, He had a trunk and he was like this is my private trunk and I of course waited one day for him to leave the house and I opened the trunk and I went through it and I thought, this is the worst thing I’ve ever done and I will never do this to a human being again. When someone says please respect my privacy, respect it.
Gloria: What was in the trunk?
Drew: A lot of pictures of an ex-girlfriend actually I was like maybe you two should be together.
