A DR. PHIL RIPPED-FROM-THE HEADLINES EXCLUSIVE:

THE FATHER OF THE FLORIDA FRAT BOY ACCUSED OF GRUESOME MURDERS SPEAKS OUT IN HIS ONLY TELEVISED SIT-DOWN INTERVIEW

DUBBED ‘THE CANNIBAL KILLER,’ BY THE MEDIA, WAS TEEN AUSTIN HARROUFF UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ‘FLAKKA’ DRUG?

He’s killed two people and the blood that you see is not his own.”
— Dr. Wade Harrouff describing what police said when identifying his son in a photo.

(Hollywood, CA – August 25, 2016) – In a ripped-from-the-headlines exclusive, DR. PHIL, television’s #1-rated daytime talk show, speaks with the father of the double murder suspect accused of fatally stabbing a couple outside their home and then biting the man's face in Tequesta, Florida last week. The episode airs Wednesday, September 7th (check local listings).

Austin Harrouff, a Florida State University student, allegedly murdered married couple John and Michelle Stevens as they sat in their driveway. Harrouff reportedly stabbed the couple multiple times and then bit into John Stevens’ face. The couple were pronounced dead on the scene while neighbor Jeff Fisher, who attempted to help the Stevens, was also allegedly stabbed by Harrouff. Harrouff has reportedly tested negative for common drugs, but results will take longer for less common hallucinogenic drugs such as flakka, also known as “gravel” or “the zombie drug,” which some speculated may have precipitated the attack.

In his only televised sit-down interview, Austin’s father, Dr. Wade Harrouff, who is a prominent dentist in the community, sat down with Dr. Phil to reveal his account of the details which lead up to the incident, including his claim that Austin ingested a large amount of vegetable oil that evening, what his father called his “manic behavior” at dinner the night of the murders, and his father’s claim that he underwent a dramatic personality change two weeks prior to that fateful night. Does Dr. Harrouff believe mental illness played a part in his son’s actions? What does he think triggered his son’s alleged behavior? And what words does he have for the victims’ families?

DR. PHIL is produced by Peteski Productions in association with CBS Television Distribution, which also distributes the show. Carla Pennington and Dr. Phillip C. McGraw are the executive producers.
