ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT | TY HERNDON IS “AN OUT, PROUD, AND HAPPY GAY MAN”

November 20, 2014
(New York, NY) ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT’S Nischelle Turner sat down for the broadcast exclusive with country music star Ty Herndon where he opened up about his struggles with his sexuality.  While discussing his song "Lies That I Told Myself,” Herndon reveals the biggest lie he’s ever told himself saying, “That I couldn't be gay and be in country music.  I've dreamed about being in country music since I was six years old and it's my life, it’s what I do, it's who I am and I went to great lengths to cover up that fact to be a country star.”  Herndon goes on to tell Turner that he is happy to tell his truth stating, “I have been in music my entire life and today I get to tell the world I am an out, proud, and happy gay man.”

When asked if he had any advice for someone in his same situation, Herndon explains, “I want to be the guy that climbs up in that tree house and hugs those kids, those young adults, and help them down and go everything is going to be okay. You can go be a country singer, you can go be the President of the United States and the Lord loves you. Everything is going to be fine.”
