MICHELLE KNIGHT RETURNS TO THE DR. PHIL SHOW FOR AN EXCLUSIVE LOOK INSIDE HER SECRET STRUGGLE, AIRING FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 14

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

“I WANT THE WORLD TO KNOW YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE IN PAIN FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE”

(Hollywood, CA – November 12, 2014) – Michelle Knight, the first of three women abducted by Ariel Castro in 2002 and held in captivity for over a decade, returns to DR. PHIL to give an exclusive look inside her secret struggle, airing Friday, November 14 (check local listings). Knight last appeared on the show this past May, having first broken her silence about her horrifying 11 years spent in Castro’s clutches in a bombshell exclusive interview with Dr. Phil one year ago.

Having formed a deep bond with Dr. Phil during their first meeting last year, Michelle reached out to him for help dealing with the horrific trauma of her past.

Knowing she detoured from the path to recovery, Knight made the brave choice to address the demons that continue to haunt her head-on. In the episode, Knight is interviewed at a treatment center for Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, a unique therapeutic technique that gets patients outdoors and into nature which Knight says, “Helped me in so many ways.”

With this therapy, Knight was able to get her voice back and get in touch with who she is. Regarding her ongoing effort to heal, she says, “The things that I’ve been struggling with are the things I’ve been keeping secret.”  She added, “I want to thank Dr. Phil for helping me because without him I wouldn’t have been able to have the courage that I have now. He’s always been there and I think he always will.”

DR. PHIL was created by Harpo Productions, is produced by Peteski Productions in association with CBS Television Distribution and is distributed by CBS Television Distribution, a unit of CBS Corp. Carla Pennington and Dr. Phillip C. McGraw are the executive producers. Angie Kraus is co-executive producer.
