April 30, 2014 (Los Angeles, CA) – Karrine Steffans, best-selling author and close friend ofLos Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling’s alleged former mistress V. Stiviano, opens up toTHE INSIDER’s Kevin Frazier about the controversy surroundingthe recording ofSterling making racist remarks during an argument with Stiviano.  Steffans explains that she feels the recordings would not have been leaked if Sterling’s wife Rochelle had dropped her lawsuit against Stiviano saying, “I believe that this entire thing could have been avoided and V. did not want to do this but you can't back a woman…who has done nothing but take care of you, into a corner with a 1.8 million dollar claim…[Donald and V.] were speaking up until recently about [the lawsuit]...I heard both sides of the conversation and he seemed sorry that it was happening but as if it were out of his control.”

Steffans goes on to divulge that she believes Sterling’s wife was in control of the legal situation stating, “A lot of times you're more powerful as ‘Mrs. So-and-so’ than the ‘ex Mrs. So-and-so’ and I've heard that said before in Hollywood…You’ll put up with a lot just so you can ride around and say I'm ‘Mrs. So-and-so’…We saw…Mrs. Sterling…say disparaging things about her husband one day and then they're out to dinner the next and she's defending him…As I said, you're more powerful being Mrs. than the ex.”
