‘JEOPARDY!’ KICKS OFF BATTLE OF THE DECADES TOURNAMENT WITH

'80s WEEK COMPETITION FEBRUARY 3-7

 

Season-long Event Celebrates JEOPARDY!’s 30th Anniversary

 

CULVER CITY, CALIF. – January 29, 2014 – The JEOPARDY!Battle of the Decades Tournament is set to begin next week. The season-long event, which is part of JEOPARDY!’s 30th anniversary celebration, will bring back 45 champions from the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s to vie for a million-dollar grand prize throughout several rounds of play. It all starts with '80s Week, airing February 3-7.

 

“I am excited for our viewers to see contestants from the early years of our show back in action,” said JEOPARDY! host Alex Trebek. “Even though this group first played the game decades ago, they’re just as sharp and competitive now as they were then.”

 

'80s Week, the first of three preliminary rounds, features contestants from JEOPARDY!’s first decade (1984-1993) competing in five stand-alone games. Only the winner of each game will advance to the next round.

Preliminary rounds will continue March 3-7 with contestants from the show’s second decade (1994-2003), and March 31-April 4 with contestants from the third decade (2004-2013). The 15 winners from these rounds will return May 5-17 for quarterfinals, semifinals, and a two-day final.
