THE DOCTORS’ DR. JIM SEARS VISITS STATEN ISLAND BOY SUFFERING FROM RARE SKIN DISEASE AND IS BROUGHT TO TEARS, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 6
(HOLLYWOOD, November 5, 2013) – On Wednesday. November 6 (check local listings), THE DOCTORS are brought to tears after pediatrician Dr. Jim Sears visits 11 year-old John Hudson Dilgen from Staten Island, NY, who suffers from EB, or Epidermolysis Bullosa, called “the worst disease you’ve never have heard of,” by co-host Dr. Travis Stork. Sears’ visit is part of the Emmy®-winning series’ new recurring segment, “The Doctors’ House Calls,” where each of the show’s co-hosts travel to different parts of the country to meet people with unique health issues and offer assistance where appropriate.
Diagnosed with the rare condition at birth when doctors discovered no skin on his feet and left wrist, Dilgen’s skin is paper-thin, like a butterfly and tears and blisters very easily, so he has to remain bandaged at all times. For now, there is no cure for his disease.
Dr. Sears spent a day with John Hudson and his family and was able to see first-hand what this young boy and his family endure on a daily basis. “He tried to help me understand what it’s like to live with EB,” said Sears. “But the more I saw, the harder it was to imagine.”
Please consider cuing your audience to tune-in Wednesday, November 6 (check local listings) for the full interview and see the incredible surprise Dr. Sears and The Doctors had in store for the entire family. Plus, special guest Robin Quivers (“The Howard Stern Show”) visits the show for a discussion on how her vegan lifestyle helped save her life after a serious battle with cancer.
