DR. PHIL’S MUCH-ANTICIPATED INTERVIEW WITH DMX AIRS WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25
“I just want people to get an honest perception of who I am,”
the rapper tells Dr. Phil
(Los Angeles, CA – September 24, 2013) – Popular controversial rapper, DMX, sits down for a frank, one-on-one, conversation with Dr. Phil this Wednesday, September 25, 2013 (check local listings). Among the topics Dr. Phil will discuss is why DMX decided to run through the hallways of a Detroit hotel naked last month wearing only an ankle monitor.
DMX burst onto the music scene in the late 1990s with a string of number one albums to go along with his mega-hit “Party Up (Up in Here).” Over the past decade, however, he has made more headlines for his problems with the law than for his music. Dr. Phil will attempt to find out the cause of the rapper’s behavior which can be described as erratic, outrageous and unpredictable.
One of his larger looming problems is the $1.24 million in back child support he owes for his 11 children. DMX explains that the support amount being is high because his income was $13 million per year over a decade ago, although it’s not anywhere near that now. He has been arrested over 25 times for charges including reckless driving, drug possession and impersonating a police officer. The 37-year-old has also had a long battle with drug addiction and admitted that he was first introduced to crack-cocaine at the age of 14. Dr. Phil will attempt to find out if he is clean now, and what the status is of his relationship with his wife of 14 years, who has started the divorce process.
“In my view, your talent is as intact today as when you were making $13 million a year,” Dr. Phil tells DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, before posing the question as to why the artist is “not making that money now.”
The syndicated series, DR. PHIL, was created by Harpo Productions, and is produced by Peteski Productions in association with CBS Television Distribution. DR. PHIL, entering its 12th season, is the #1 ranked syndicated daytime talk show, a position held since the conclusion of The Oprah Winfrey Show in May, 2011.
