ET FIRST | LIBERACE’S EX-LOVER SCOTT THORSON IN HIS FIRST JAILHOUSE INTERVIEW

“A lot of people wouldn’t think of him as a child molester…”

April 25, 2013 (Reno, NV) ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT’s Brooke Anderson sat down with Liberace’s ex-lover Scott Thorson for his first interview in Washoe County Jail to discuss the burglary and theft charges which have led to him currently being behind bars, his cancer diagnosis and HBO’s upcoming film based on his autobiographical novel “Behind the Candelabra: My Life With Liberace” starring Michael Douglas and Matt Damon.  Regarding his tumultuous relationship with Liberace, Thorson candidly reveals, “Liberace was 47 years my senior.  I was a 16-year old kid.  Today, he would have been arrested for child endangerment.”  Thorson continues on to say that he feels Liberace took advantage of him, “A lot of people wouldn’t think of him as a child molester…he baited me with wealth and fame. Being in foster homes all your life and then thrown into all that wealth and glamour… I did anything I could to please him.”  Thorson also tells Anderson that the memories of his time with Liberace are difficult for him, “There are parts of that life I wanted to forget. Especially the sexual part of it.”

Thorson, who is suffering from cancer, discloses to Anderson that he does not have enough money to pay for his medical treatment and makes a plea to Michael Douglas saying, “Mr. Douglas is a survivor of cancer.  If [he is] watching, please help…I’m desperate.”

Additionally, Thorson reveals that Damon, who portrays him in the upcoming film, “Behind the Candelabra,” did not reach out to him at any point before or during filming.  “I was very taken aback by the way I was treated.  I thought I could have been an advisor towards Matt [Damon].  Think about it, if you’re portraying someone’s life…[I could have been] an asset.”
