WHEEL OF FORTUNE INVITES FANS TO WATCH, TWEET AND WIN THIS HALLOWEEN
CULVER CITY, CALIF. (October 20, 2011) – No tricks, just Tweets this Halloween as Wheel of Fortune introduces its “Trick or Tweetstakes,” a watch, tweet and win sweepstakes that will run from October 20th through October 31st. Fans will be Tweeting for daily treats provided by The Popcorn Factory®.
Wheel of Fortune fans who follow the show on Twitter (@WheelofFortune) will want to tune in to the show each night, then tweet the bonus round puzzle solution with the hashtag, #WOFTreats. Those who tweet the correct bonus round puzzle solution and proper hashtag will be entered to win the nightly prize of a $100 gift card and a Halloween gift assortment from The Popcorn Factory®.
In addition to the Tweetstakes, fans can look out for a daily “Twitter Toss Up” game that will let followers play Wheel of Fortune against other “Wheel” fans to solve puzzles from their Twitter pages or apps. New puzzles will be tweeted three times each weekday.
On Facebook, the show has an official fan page (facebook.com/wheeloffortune) and a game application (facebook.com/wheeloffortunegame). The fan page is hosted by “$5K,” the silver-sparkled $5000 wedge character from the actual Wheel and the show’s official “Spokeswedge”. He connects with Wheel fans by sharing insider show information, including fun facts, photos and videos.
The Wheel of Fortune Facebook game application is played by close to 200,000 people each day. The application allows fans the chance to spin the wheel, buy a vowel or solve the puzzle along with their friends on Facebook.
As part of a partnership with GetGlue.com, viewers can unlock special Wheel of Fortune stickers by “checking-in” to the show. The entertainment check-in site offers a variety of stickers featuring Wheel of Fortune iconography such as the Wheel, the Bankrupt wedge, and even Pat & Vanna. Beginning on October 26th, viewers who “check-in” on Wednesdays can be rewarded with exclusive Wheel Deals from popular retailers and merchants.
