ALANA STEWART REMEMBERS CLOSE FRIEND FARRAH FAWCETT

June 21, 2010 (Los Angeles, CA) - June 25th marks the one-year anniversary of Farrah Fawcett's passing, and her close friend Alana Stewart sits down with ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT to talk about her late friend and her legacy, for a new interview to air tonight, June 21st.

"She was a fighter, and she usually won her battles," says Alana, referring to the anal cancer that took her dear friend one year ago. "It's so hard to believe. It doesn't seem possible. ... It's kind of one big surreal experience. She was such a special unique person. There was no one like her, nor will there ever be. ... I think she gave hope and encouragement to so many people that were struggling with cancer and to the loved ones of people that were struggling with cancer. I think she'll be remembered in our hearts forever."

Reflecting on the journey Alana took with Farrah, she shares, "I gave a lot to Farrah during the time that we were together, because I loved her and I wanted to, but she gave far more to me. This experience with her has changed my life, and given me a higher purpose in life.

"I think a very big part of her legacy is going to be the Farrah Fawcett Foundation, which she created a couple of years before she died, but never could do anything with it because she was busy battling the disease," she continues, "and now we're officially opening the offices on Friday, the one-year anniversary of her passing. I think it's very fitting. I think it's what she would have wanted."

The mission of the Farrah Fawcett Foundation is to provide funding for alternative methods of cancer research, clinical trials, prevention, and awareness with an emphasis on anal and pediatric cancers.

Alana is still not without emotion when she thinks of Farrah, and she says, "I'll get very teary and miss her, but I feel her spirit is so strong, I feel like she went to a place where she's free, she's happy, and I feel she's looking over all of us."

Alana's book, My Journey with Farrah, comes out in paperback on June 22, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to The Farrah Fawcett Foundation to support cancer research.
