On Monday January 25, THE DOCTORS devote an entire show to pay tribute to remarkable individuals who went through extraordinary medical measures to beat the odds, and welcome Harrison Ford and Brendan Fraser, the stars of the new film "Extraordinary Measures" which Ford also executive produced, to discuss the remarkable true medical story that inspired the film and pay tribute to John and Aileen Crowley (also appearing on THE DOCTORS) who went through extraordinary measures to save the lives of their sick children.

When John and Aileen Crowley learned that their two youngest children, Megan and Patrick, had a rare and fatal neuromuscular genetic disorder called Pompe disease, they didn't hope for miracles: they made them happen.  The Crowleys, determined to find a treatment to save their children's lives, joined medical research scientists and formed their own bio-tech company focused on developing a life-saving drug to treat victims of Pompe disease.

On THE DOCTORS, Ford, who portrays medical scientist Dr. Robert Stonehill in the film, and Fraser, who portrays John Crowley, discuss the profound effect that telling the story of the Crowley's had on their lives.  "I don't see material such as this come across my radar, "states Fraser.  "This is a story about a family that survives and succeeds."  Ford, in a conversation with Dr. Stork,  also discusses what drew him to the project: "I'm always looking for the best of human nature, and there are a lot of examples of the other side of the coin.  It was great to be a part of the telling of this story."

Later in the episode, THE DOCTORS reveal the first couple who used Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis to create an embryo and make sure it was an ideal cellular match to save their daughter's life.
