AN INSIDE EDITION EXCLUSIVE INVESTIGATION: IS THE REALITY TV SHOW CHEATERS CHEATING ITS VIEWERS?

To be broadcast Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009

New York, NY - Nov. 2, 2009 -   The reality TV show, "Cheaters," is watched by almost 3 million viewers each week.  And, since its inception in 2000, the show's producers have insisted that the emotion packed stories they highlight are unscripted and all real.   However, an INSIDE EDITION investigation has uncovered numerous instances where "Cheaters" has hired people to pretend they have been caught in the act of cheating on their spouses or lovers.

Two of the women who claim they were hired to act also allege that even though they were below the drinking age at the time, producers tried to get them drunk so they would loosen up during sexy scenes. It's an allegation that creator and executive producer of "Cheaters," Bobby Goldstein says he finds hard to believe, but tells INSIDE EDITION he will investigate.

Goldstein also denies staging one of the most famous episodes, one that ranked #2 by E Entertainment's "101 Craziest TV Moments."   As seen on YouTube, it was when "Cheaters" host, Joey Greco, is allegedly stabbed during a wild confrontation on a boat in Texas.

But INSIDE EDITION interviewed one of the supposed "cheaters," a beautiful hotel receptionist who says she was paid $350 to appear.  Cassandra Terrazas says it was all planned in advance by the producers of "Cheaters."  And, that the boats were rented, the confrontation, scripted, and the blood, was fake.    "There was nothing real about it.  We were all in on it.  He was not stabbed.  He was not harmed at all."   The local police department also tells INSIDE EDITION there is no record of the alleged incident.

Despite the allegations of staging, Goldstein tells INSIDE EDITION, "I think you are on a wild goose chase here."  But adds, "let me say this -- if it was all poppycock, it sure did great in the ratings!"
