New York, NY - February 19, 2007 - Inside Edition conducted an exclusive on-camera interview with former Miss California Candice Sanders, ex-girlfriend of sportscaster Jim Lampley, who speaks out for the first time about her rocky relationship with the famous broadcaster.
Following is a transcript of this exclusive interview as broadcast on today's edition of INSIDE EDITION. Credit must be given to INSIDE EDITION.
Sanders: "I blame myself because I made a bad choice. I made a horrible choice in men."
Sanders: "I don't know if [Lampley} he loved me.. I think it was more of an obsession or possession kind of thing...I feared for my life, I still fear for my life because I know he has what I don't. He has celebrity. He has power. He has money."
Sanders alleges that a New Year's Eve incident took place that ultimately resulted in Lampley being arrested on suspicion of domestic assault.
Sanders: "He [Lampley] grabbed me by shoulders and shook me vigorously. He dragged me and slammed me against the right wall of the apartment."
Sanders told INSIDE EDITION she is surprised Lampley's ex-wife Bree Walker is coming to his defense.
Sanders: "She [Walker] has called me numerous times, I have emails that I can show you were she talks about his violent temper...She told me on so many occasions how he hit her."
Authorities have dropped the domestic abuse charges against Lampley because Sanders refuses to testify against him. Sanders says the only thing she wants now is for Lampley to leave her alone.
Sanders: "I can not fix your anger. Stay away from me."
