COMIC DAVE CHAPPELLE STEPS ON STAGE FOR A SPECIAL PERFORMANCE PREMIERING LABOR DAY WEEKEND ON SHOWTIME
LOS ANGELES, July 21, 2004--The multiple Emmy-nominated Dave Chappelle, one of comedy's hottest stars, takes his trademark humor before a live audience with DAVE CHAPPELLE: FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH a new, uncensored, no-holds barred special airing on Showtime during Labor Day Weekend. Famous for his critically-acclaimed "Chappelle's Show" on Comedy Central, the comedian takes it up a notch in this in-your-face performance taped at San Francisco's legendary Fillmore Theatre. DAVE CHAPPELLE: FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH premieres Sunday, September 4 at 9PM ET/PT on Showtime.
"A year ago, Dave Chappelle came to see me and said he wanted to do a comedy special on Showtime. Without hesitating, I said yes," remarked Robert Greenblatt, President of Entertainment for Showtime Networks Inc. "Since then, he's become the hottest star in comedy, bar none. And, we've got him."
Best known for his keen comedic observations and hilariously politically incorrect insights, Chappelle will share his opinion on current events with topics such as race, sex, politics and a multitude of others. His razor sharp comedy cuts across all cultural stereotypes and societal taboos.
With his cutting edge humor and biting social commentary, Chappelle says what people could say -- but won't and don't dare.
DAVE CHAPPELLE: FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH is a Pilate Boy and RickMill production, executive produced by Dave Chappelle, Stan Lathan and Kimber Rickabaugh. The special is directed by Stan Lathan and written by Dave Chappelle.
Multi-talented actor and entertainer Dave Chappelle recently concluded "The Grass Roots Tour," that saw the comedian hit over 51 cities performing 159 shows.
