ATLANTA – April 9, 2026 – CBS Atlanta today announced the launch of a weekday 5:00 PM newscast, debuting Monday, April 13, expanding its daily news programming and furthering its commitment to delivering timely community-focused coverage.  

The weekday 5:00 PM newscast will be anchored by Sharon Lawson, with meteorologist Dagmar Midcap and Orelon Sidney reporting traffic.  

“We are excited to continue building CBS Atlanta since launching in August of last year,” said Tom Canedo, president and general manager of CBS Atlanta. “I’m proud that this team is continuing the CBS tradition of serving our community with content highlighting the stories that inform and inspire us all.”

The debut of the weekday 5:00 PM newscast marks the latest step in CBS Atlanta’s continued investment in expanding local coverage, strengthening community engagement and building a modern newsroom focused on responsive, impactful journalism.
