CBS NEWS’ “FACE THE NATION WITH MARGARET BRENNAN” IS THE #1 SUNDAY MORNING PUBLIC AFFAIRS PROGRAM IN VIEWERS ON MARCH 27
“Face the Nation” Ranked #1 in Total Viewers for the Seventh Consecutive Quarter and Remains the Season’s Most-Watched Sunday Morning Public Affairs Program
FACE THE NATION with MARGARET BRENNAN was the #1 Sunday morning public affairs show on March 27, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings. FACE THE NATION delivered 3.0 million viewers and 486,000 in adults 25-54 for the week.
Season-to-date, FACE THE NATION is the #1 Sunday morning public affairs show in viewers for the second consecutive year (leading NBC by +381,000 viewers) and is leading NBC for the first time in seven years in the women 25-54 demographic.
Quarterly momentum in viewers: Among total viewers, FACE THE NATION increased its lead over ABC (+309k) and NBC (+398k). This is FACE THE NATION’s largest lead over NBC for any quarter since 2Q15.
Quarterly momentum in the demo: FACE THE NATION has closed its year-over-year gap with NBC by 43% in adults 25-54. Among women 25-54, FACE THE NATION overtook NBC (+12k), earning the #2 ranking with the demographic for the quarter. This is also FACE THE NATION’s largest lead over NBC for a first quarter since 1Q15.
Sunday’s broadcast featured John Dickerson’s interviews with CBS News national security correspondent David Martin; former acting CIA director Michael Morell; Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL); CBS News chief election and campaign correspondent Robert Costa and The Washington Post associate editor Bob Woodward; former Texas Republican congressman Will Hurd; and former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch.
Imtiaz Tyab reported from Lviv in western Ukraine, where nerves were rattled by a Russian strike on a fuel depot just two miles outside the city. Debora Patta reported from Kyiv as Russian forces continued their assault across Ukraine.
Dickerson also reflected on the questioning of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson at her Supreme Court confirmation hearings, where some senators used the occasion to promote themselves or score political points instead of honestly examining her qualifications for the bench.
