CBS NEWS NAMES AWARD-WINNING JOURNALIST AND NEWSROOM LEADER SHAYNDI RAICE FOREIGN EDITOR

Shayndi Raice, an award-winning journalist with extensive newsroom experience, has been named foreign editor of CBS News, where she’ll oversee all international coverage for the Network’s platforms and programs. She’ll begin the new assignment on May 11 and be based in London.
Raice joins CBS News after 16 years with The Wall Street Journal, most recently as the paper’s deputy bureau chief for the Middle East and North Africa, where she was based in Israel. Her career in journalism ranges across a broad spectrum of beats and locations, from covering military conflicts and uprisings across the Middle East, major tech companies in San Francisco, banking and economics in New York, national news in Chicago, European mergers and acquisitions in London, and more.
“Shayndi Raice has it all – she’s a scoophound reporter, a clear-eyed editor and a brilliant leader. She’s also curious, dogged, exacting and tireless,” said Bari Weiss, editor-in-chief of CBS News. “The world is a chaotic place right now, and Shayndi is just the person to help our audiences make sense of what’s unfolding and why it matters to them. I’m so glad she’s joining CBS News, and I cannot wait for all of us to get to work with her.”
Raice was named WSJ deputy bureau chief for the Middle East and North Africa in March 2022. Prior to that, she was the Midwest bureau chief based in Chicago. Previously, she served as a national correspondent in Chicago from 2016 to 2020. She covered M&A out of London (2014-2016), banking in New York (2012-2014) and technology in San Francisco (2011-2012). Raice joined The Wall Street Journal as a telecom reporter in 2010 after an internship at the Dow Jones Newswires.
“I’ve been so fortunate to see America and the globe in my career at the Journal. I’ve always searched for stories that resonate with audiences and that help them understand a complex and chaotic world,” said Raice. “It’s a huge honor to join the exceptional team at CBS News, and I’m excited to get to work telling more great stories.”
Raice’s work earned her a 2019 Gerald Loeb Award. She is a graduate of Yeshiva University and Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.
