“CBS SUNDAY MORNING,” AMERICA’S #1 SUNDAY MORNING NEWS PROGRAM, POSTS AUDIENCE GAINS YEAR-TO-YEAR

CBS SUNDAY MORNING, America’s #1 Sunday morning news program, posted audience gains year-to-year, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Sunday, Jan. 5.
The broadcast, anchored by Jane Pauley, delivered 5.804 million viewers and 1.202 million in the adults 25-54 category. CBS SUNDAY MORNING was #1 for the 574th consecutive week in viewers and #1 for the 170th consecutive week with adults 25-54, the demographic most desired by those who advertise in news.
CBS SUNDAY MORNING was up +3% in viewers compared to the same week a year ago.
Sunday’s broadcast included Rita Braver’s cover story on the popularity of DNA tests and what can happen when the results reveal unexpected family secrets. Serena Altschul went backstage on Broadway to talk to with singer-songwriter David Byrne about his show “American Utopia.” Ben Tracy traveled to a unique resort in Cambodia to talk with architect Bill Bensley, who creates exotic retreats throughout the world.
Also on the broadcast, Bob Schieffer caught up with country music’s Tanya Tucker. Conor Knighton reported from a “tablescaping” competition where competitors design and decorate elaborate tabletops. National Geographic photographer Joel Sartore offered his thoughts on endangered species and what people can do to help. Holly Williams, Seth Doane and David Martin reported on the latest in the escalating tension between Iran and the United States. And Steve Hartman told the tale of a cat sanctuary worker who became an unlikely savior.
