Launch Marks CBSN’s Expansion to Game Consoles in Addition to Leading Connected TV Devices, Online and Mobile Platforms

Nov. 10, 2015 – CBSN, CBS News’ 24/7 digital streaming news network featuring live, anchored coverage, is available today in the brand-new CBS News app for Xbox One from Microsoft.

The launch of the CBS News app for Xbox One further extends the reach of CBSN, which marked its one-year anniversary on Nov. 6. CBSN is also available on additional connected TV devices, including Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV, Roku players and Roku TV models, as well as the CBS News apps for iOS, Android and Windows 8.1, and CBSNews.com on desktop and mobile devices.

CBSN makes all of the resources of CBS News available 24/7 directly on digital platforms. With today’s launch, Xbox Live members in the US who own an Xbox One will now be able to watch CBSN’s special stream of the Democratic presidential debate on Saturday, Nov. 14 (9:00 PM, ET/6:00 PM, PT), enhanced with real-time Twitter trends, instant reactions, curated Tweets and other key information onscreen. CBSN's live, anchored coverage will be available to users across all leading digital platforms. CBS News Chief White House Correspondent Major Garrett will kick off CBSN’s pre-debate coverage live from Drake University at 8:00 PM, ET/5:00 PM, PT and anchor post-debate coverage at 11:00 PM, ET/8:00 PM, PT.

The new CBS News app for Xbox One features a widget that launches CBSN immediately upon opening the app and is audio-enabled to allow users to continue to browse other CBS News content and other apps while still listening to the live stream. In addition to CBSN, the app offers editorially-curated shelves of on-demand content, including all the latest content from CBS News programs as well as original digital videos. The app takes advantage of native Xbox One functionality to allow users to pin content to their home screen for easy access, and it also supports the use of Kinect voice control.
