SINGER ROBIN THICKE TELLS “CBS SUNDAY MORNING WITH CHARLES OSGOOD” HE SAW IN HIMSELF A “GUY WHO NEEDED TO BE HUMBLED A LITTLE BIT”
Following the success of his hit “Blurred Lines” and the collapse of his marriage to actress Paula Patton, singer Robin Thicke was a man who “needed to be humbled,” he tells Anthony Mason in an interview for CBS SUNDAY MORNING WITH CHARLES OSGOOD to be broadcast July 6, 2014 (9:00 AM, ET) on the CBS Television Network.
The breakup with Patton came at a time when Thicke was riding high off of the success of “Blurred Lines.” However, there was a downside to being popular. “Blurred Lines” was branded by some critics as sexist and he was a target of paparazzi.
What did he see when he looked in the mirror during the controversy? Mason asks.
“I saw a guy who needed to be humbled a little bit,” Thicke says. “Because I think you strive for so long for an accomplishment like what happened last year, and then you get it. And then you don’t know how to juggle it, you know. And all of a sudden, the balls are all over the floor.”
Thicke has been public with his attempts to get back together with his wife and how his role in their relationship was the inspiration for his new CD. Thicke talks with Mason about his early career and growing up the son of soap opera star Gloria Loring and actor Alan Thicke.
He also offers his thoughts about his infamous MTV Video Music Awards performance with Miley Cyrus. Thicke says he’s never watched a replay of the appearance. “No, I just have no desire,” Thicke says.
CBS SUNDAY MORNING is broadcast Sundays (9:00-10:30 AM, ET) on the CBS Television Network. Rand Morrison is the executive producer.
